The film starts with some flashbacks from the two main characters (Richard and Anthony)'s childhoods – they are shown to be happy, carefree and overall standard children.
The first voice we hear is the one of Richards, who in a sombre voice expresses "God will forgive them. He will forgive them and allow them into heaven. I cant live with that."
From this, already we can see that in the past, these people that Richard talks about - "them", have done something that has offended Richard, and he is not happy about them getting away with whatever they have done. Already within the first few minutes the audience have an idea of this mans revenge being the main plot of the film.

Mmmmedia - UK Film Council Research
UK Film Council
The UK Film Council (UKFC) was set up in 2000 by the Labour Government to promote the UK film industry. It has a board of 15 directors and is funded by things such as The National Lottery. They work very closely with the film industry and are there to offer advice within the films and economically.
It acts to promote films that are made/directed/produced in the UK to USA and around the world, and promote culture in cinema and films in the UK, and also expand the UK into "the digital age".
UKFC also funds the British Film Institute.
It acts to promote films that are made/directed/produced in the UK to USA and around the world.
They are also here to education children about media and film making, they fund a company called First Light - who offer this education.
UKFC claim that diversity is one of their key priorities - they want to make all groups of society welcome to participate and enjoy the films that they support.
